Regarding what #4 said about "Bump - same question here" - honestly, it's such a headache. I've been using these laptops for years and unfortunately, the hub situation hasn't gotten much better. I've had issues with even the big brands like Anker just flaking out after a few months of heavy use. It's super frustrating when you just want your stuff to work and not worry about your desk melting. I ended up doing a lot of my own testing because I was tired of things overheating or failing right when I needed them. Here is what actually survived my desk:

CalDigit SOHO Dock: It's a bit pricey, usually around $80, but the heat management is miles better than the cheap plastic ones.

Plugable 7-in-1 Hub: This one is usually under $50. It's not pretty, but it's been my reliable backup for a long time. Tbh, if you're worried about heat, just try to keep the hub out from under any papers or clutter. These things are basically doing a ton of heavy lifting to get that video signal to the projector, so they're gonna get warm no matter what. Just get something with a metal casing if you can. It helps dissipate the heat way better than plastic. Good luck with the boss on Tuesday, you'll be fine as long as you test the HDMI cord a few minutes before the meeting starts...

Caught this thread a bit late but honestly, if you're worried about burn-in, you should probably just skip OLED for now. I've been through a few panels over the years and for a main grind machine, I always go back to IPS. Apex has so many static HUD elements like the health bar and map that'll just bake into the screen if you're putting in serious hours. Plus, OLEDs can be kinda dim if your room isn't pitch black. Here is what I'd look at for that $750 budget:

ASUS ROG Swift PG27AQN 27-inch 1440p 360Hz

It is actually 360Hz, not just 240, so it's technically even better than the LG for competitive stuff.

LG 27GR83B-B 27-inch UltraGear QHD 240Hz

Super reliable and usually way under your budget.

MSI G274QPX 27-inch 1440p 240Hz IPS

A really solid alternative that performs way above its price point. In my experience, the peace of mind with IPS is worth it. You wont really feel that response time difference once the fight gets intense anyway... just my two cents.

Honestly, I've tried many panels over the years and been through the same struggle between OLED and IPS. In my experience, the motion clarity on that LG UltraGear 27GR95QE-B 27-inch OLED 1440p 240Hz is absolutely unmatched for tracking in Apex, but the dimness is real. I remember setting mine up and being kinda disappointed with how it looked during the day compared to my old bright LCD. Since you mentioned a $750 budget, you could honestly save a massive chunk of change and still get a pro experience. I've used the Gigabyte M27Q X 27-inch 1440p 240Hz for a while and it's basically half the price of the ASUS ROG Swift PG27AQN 27-inch 1440p 360Hz while being super reliable. If you arent a pro making money off the game, that extra $300 is better spent on a better GPU or just kept in your pocket. IPS is just safer for the long grind imo... dont overthink it too much.

I was looking at the ASUS PG27AQN since everyone says its the king for 1440p 240hz but then i saw the LG OLED 27GR95QE and my logic was that the near instant response time would be better for Apex. But then i read some stuff about brightness and burn in so now i dont know if i should just stick to IPS for reliability. I got about $750 to drop on this and i need to order it by friday so it gets here for my rank grind. is the OLED worth the risk or is IPS still the way for competitive stuff...

It's super frustrating when you're trying to coordinate a big cookout like that. From my experience, here's the deal:

That share link is just a static web view. He can't check items off and have them disappear on your phone.

The only way to get a live sync is to let him log into your account. It's a bit of a security headache, but if you trust him, it's the only way to see what he's grabbed in real-time.

Even then, the app can be laggy and sometimes logs one person out when the other opens it. Ngl, the interface is definitely a bit of a mess for sharing. I've been using Share Product Wishlist lately to organize my kids' holiday requests and it's been such a lifesaver.

It is looking like a total battle to get one at launch. I am honestly so excited for the performance boost but also kinda terrified about the power requirements lol. I have been doing some digging and wanted to add a few things to keep in mind for safety since we are all hunting for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition:

Make sure your power supply is up to the task. Something like the Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 80+ Titanium is a safe bet for a card this big.

Double check your case dimensions for the MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Gaming X Slim or whatever AIB card you want.

Join the Falcodrin or StockChecker Discord servers for real-time pings. Safety first guys! I would hate to see someone buy an expensive card just to have it not fit or trip their breakers. It is gonna be amazing when we finally snag one!! We can do this!

I have found that being very methodical about the budget before anyone votes is the only way to stay satisfied with the results. If you show the group locations that are basically impossible, youre just asking for a fight. tbh the market is too wild for guesswork right now. My family usually sticks to these criteria to keep things professional and stress-free:

Only look at properties with 8+ bedrooms under 12k to leave room for food

Filter specifically for elevator access or ground-floor suites for the elders

Focus on central hubs like Branson or the Ozarks to balance travel times I always use this site to lock in these filters early. Honestly, once you present the hard data on what is actually available for 22 people, the stubbornness usually dies down because the reality of the market sets in. It has worked well for us for years and I have no complaints.

I actually have a slightly different take on this based on my experience running these trips. In my opinion, the voting system is the root cause of the friction because it lets people get emotionally attached to destinations that just arent feasible. When you let people pick a place like the Outer Banks without looking at the logistics first, you end up in the exact stalemate youre facing now. I found that switching to a data-first approach works much better. Instead of a Google Form for locations, I suggest a spreadsheet that strictly lists the non-negotiables: total budget of $15,000, 22 beds, and zero stairs for the seniors. Once you plug those into the search filters on Vrbo, you will quickly see that about 90 percent of the popular beach spots disappear. Its much harder for a sibling to be stubborn when the data shows their choice is literally impossible. Honestly, you should just look for any large-scale managed property through Vrbo in a less trendy region. It might be less glamorous than a famous beach, but you can get way more luxury and accessibility in secondary markets. Pushing the group toward a criteria-based search rather than an opinion-based vote usually settles the dispute because the house itself becomes the destination. It takes the war zone energy out of the group chat when the math does the talking for you.

How do you actually settle on a destination for a massive family trip when everyone is suddenly being super stubborn about what they want? I have been the one organizing our big extended family get-togethers for over a decade now and usually I just throw a few options into a Google Form and we go with the majority, but this year it is just not working at all. We are looking at next July for about 22 people total and the group chat has basically turned into a war zone.

I usually handle all the heavy lifting like the lodging logistics and the shared cost breakdowns but I have hit a wall here. My sister is dead set on a beachfront place in the Outer Banks because she wants the kids to have the ocean, but with our total budget of roughly $15,000 for the week for everyone, finding a house big enough that isnt a total dump is basically impossible right now. Then you have my brother who is insisting on a mountain retreat in Gatlinburg because he wants to hike, but my parents are getting older and cant really handle the steep terrain or the lack of elevators in those big vertical cabins.

The usual top three choices ranking system I use is just causing more friction because people are voting tactically now to block other peoples ideas which is just ridiculous for a family vacation. I tried to explain the cost-per-head constraints but everyone just says well find something cheaper as if the market isnt crazy right now.

Outer Banks (too pricey for the size we need)

Gatlinburg (too many stairs for the seniors)

Maybe a lake house in Michigan? (too far for the West Coast cousins)
