honestly i am so over these cheap no-name power supplies. the one in my work rig just started making this high pitched whining noise and its driving me crazy while im trying to finish spreadsheets. i thought about getting another cheapo unit but my logic was why risk it again?

but then looking at name brands everything is like 80 bucks which seems overkill for a basic i3 build with no gpu. i need to stay under $50 if possible since im in chicago and shipping is already a pain. so im stuck between getting a basic corsair cv or maybe an evga white series but people say those are loud too? i just want something quiet that wont die in six months...

So I finally saved up enough cash for an RTX 4090 after working extra shifts for 6 months and I'm buying the parts next week here in California. But I'm honestly so confused about the power supply thing. I keep reading horror stories about cables melting or the computer just turning off and it's making me kinda scared to even put it together.

Is there like a specific one that's the best for this card? I see stuff like 850 watts and 1200 watts and it's all just numbers to me. Sorry if this is a total noob question but I really dont want to blow up my expensive new card... what should I get?

Im trying to build my first computer and honestly I have no idea where to start with the power part. Its all so confusing with the different colors like gold and bronze and I am worried if I pick a cheap one it will like explode or something lol. I was told I need a 650W one for the graphics card I got which is a 3060. I dont have a ton of money left after buying the other parts so I am looking for something that wont break the bank but also wont kill my whole system.

Here is what I am looking for:

price needs to be under $75 if possible

needs to not be super loud because its going in my bedroom

has to be reliable enough to last a couple years

easy to plug in because I am scared of messing up the wires

I am shopping mostly on Amazon or maybe Best Buy since there is one near my house in Ohio. Is there a specific brand that is safe for beginners? I see some for $40 but that feels too cheap right? Sorry if this is a really basic thing to ask I just dont want to set my house on fire or ruin my new parts...

Gotta finish my build by Saturday cuz all my parts are here but I'm totally stuck on the power supply. I'm running a Ryzen 5 5600 and a 6700 XT so nothing crazy but I dont want it to explode. Budget is tight like $65 max. I looked at the Corsair CX series since everyone says they are okay but then I read a thread saying the newer versions are cheaped out on so I'm second guessing that. Then I saw the EVGA units at Best Buy but there's so many versions like BR and BQ and my logic was just getting the cheapest one but now I'm scared they're trash... which one actually works for a mid range setup?

What is actually the absolute quietest 850W PSU out there right now because I am finally building my dream silent rig and I dont want to mess this up! Im so stoked to get this thing running finally. I am building a PC for some heavy music production and late night gaming in my bedroom and it really needs to be dead silent since my desk is right next to my bed and my girlfriend is a super light sleeper lol.

I've got a budget of around $160-180 for the power supply specifically and I am hoping to buy it by Tuesday so I can build everything over the weekend. I spent like three hours looking at reviews today and I saw the Corsair RM850x being recommended everywhere as the gold standard but then I saw a few threads saying the newer versions have a more aggressive fan curve or coil whine issues which is basically my worst nightmare. Then I looked at the Seasonic Focus GX-850 because people say their 10 year warranty is amazing but some reviewers mentioned the fan can be a bit clicky when it starts up in hybrid mode?

Is there like a hidden gem I am missing or should I just go with one of those and hope I get a good unit? Should I maybe look at be quiet! Straight Power series instead or are they overpriced for what they are... I just want total silence when I am mixing audio at 2am.

Just snagged an RTX 4090 for my new editing rig and I am literally shaking with excitement lol. I've been saving up for months for this beast and want to build it this weekend.

I saw some people online swearing by the Corsair RM1200x but then I keep seeing others say the new ATX 3.0 units like the Seasonic Vertex are way better because of the native 12VHPWR cable. Is the adapter that comes in the box really as bad as the horror stories make it look?

I dont want to spend $300 if a $200 unit is just as safe. What PSU are you guys actually using for your 4090s?
