Which Intel chip is the absolute best for playing games in 4K right now? I'm trying to build my first computer and honestly I am so overwhelmed looking at all these numbers and letters like K and KF and i7 and i9 it makes my head spin... I have about $3500 saved up for the whole setup including the monitor so I really don't want to mess this up by picking a part that doesnt fit or something. I live in Orlando and there is a computer shop nearby but they keep trying to sell me the most expensive thing and I dont know if I actually need it for 4K. Is the i9-14900K too much? People keep saying the CPU doesnt matter as much for 4K but then other people say you need a powerful one so I'm just super confused and anxious about wasting money. I want to play stuff like Cyberpunk and the new Star Wars game on the highest settings possible without it lagging. Is there a specific one that is the 'sweet spot' for Intel or should I just get the most expensive one and hope for the best... sorry if this is a really basic question but I literally have no idea what I'm doing and I'm buying the parts next Tuesday.

Which Intel processor is actually the best one if I need to run a million things at once for my work? Sorry if this is a super basic question but I am totally lost with all the different names and numbers they use for these things. I just got a new job as a data coordinator here in Chicago and they gave me about $1,300 to get a proper desktop setup but I have to choose the specs myself and I have no idea where to start.

My current computer is so slow it makes me want to scream. On a normal day I usually have about 40 or 50 tabs open in Chrome because I'm researching stuff, plus I have these massive Excel spreadsheets that are like hundreds of rows long, and then I'm also on Zoom calls while trying to type notes in Word. My laptop right now just lags and the fan starts sounding like a jet engine whenever I try to switch between windows. It is so frustrating when I'm trying to be productive and the screen just freezes for five seconds every time I click something.

I saw some stuff online about i5 and i7 and i9 but I dont know what the difference is really. Is the i9 way too much for just office work? I'm not doing any video editing or gaming or anything cool like that, I just need it to be fast for my spreadsheets and multitasking. Someone told me to look at the 14th generation because it's the newest but then I saw some people saying the 13th is basically the same thing? I just dont want to spend all this money and then realize I bought something that is way more than I need or even worse, something that still lags when I have too many things open.

Does the number of cores really matter that much for just opening a lot of programs? Or is it more about the speed? I keep hearing people talk about RAM too but I figured the processor was the main brain of the thing so I should probably start there right? I'm trying to get this ordered by next Friday so I can actually start my training without my computer dying on me. Any advice on which specific model I should look for would be a lifesaver because I'm totally drowning in all these tech specs...

I am trying to build my first computer ever and honestly I feel like I am totally drowning in all these numbers and letters. My old laptop is basically dying and I really need a real desktop for my job because I am starting a new remote role next Monday and I really do not want to mess this up. My boss said I need something reliable for multitasking since I usually have like 50 chrome tabs open and a bunch of massive excel sheets plus zoom going at the same time. I have been looking at Intel because my brother told me they are more stable for office stuff but I have no idea what the difference is between like an i3 and an i5 or what all the little letters at the end mean.

So I was thinking maybe the i5-12400? I saw it on a list of budget parts but then I saw there is an i5-13400 and an i5-14400 and I dont know if the extra money is worth it or if it will even fit in the board I pick. My logic was that if I spend more on the CPU then maybe I dont need a graphics card? I think some of them have graphics built in but I am so scared of buying one that doesnt and then having a black screen when I turn it on. Someone mentioned something about a K or an F at the end of the name and that just made me more confused. I am trying to keep the whole tower under like 600 or 700 bucks if I can because I still need to buy a monitor and a keyboard and everything else.

I live near a Micro Center in Ohio so I can go there in person but I am worried the salespeople will just talk over my head and sell me something I dont actually need. I just want something that wont lag when I am sharing my screen. Is the i3-12100 enough or am I gonna regret being cheap in six months? I am just really nervous about picking the wrong thing and wasting my money. Like is the 12th generation too old now? I saw people talking about 14th gen but it looks way more expensive. Just tell me what to buy so I can stop stressing out about this...

What Intel CPU do I need to actually edit 4K video without my computer freezing every five seconds? Honestly I am so frustrated right now because I keep trying to look this up and there are just way too many numbers and letters and it makes zero sense to me. I'm sorry if this is a really basic question but I am totally lost. I started doing some videography for local weddings here in Seattle and I just upgraded to a camera that shoots in 4K but my current computer is basically a brick when I try to use it.

Every time I try to scrub through the timeline in Premiere it just lags for like ten seconds and then the whole thing crashes and I lose my work. It is driving me insane. I have about $2,000 saved up to build a new desktop or buy one or whatever I need to do but I dont even know where to start with the processor. Someone told me to get an i9 but then I saw a video saying an i7 is fine and then someone else mentioned something about quicksync? I dont even know what that is. Is it a program? A part of the chip? I just want something that works.

I have a huge wedding project due in about three weeks and at this rate I am going to have to tell the couple I cant finish it because my computer is garbage. Should I go for the newest 14th gen stuff or does it not really matter? I heard some of them get really hot too which sounds scary because I dont want my house to catch on fire or something lol. I just need a solid recommendation that fits in my budget and wont make me want to throw my monitor out the window every time I try to edit a simple clip. Do I need more cores or faster speed? I dont even know the difference really. Does the i9-14900k thing actually work better for video or am I just wasting money at that point? Please help me out before I lose my mind...

I have been building gaming PCs for my friends for like a decade now but my sister just asked me to put together a snappy productivity machine for her new accounting firm in Chicago and honestly the low end market is confusing me more than the high end stuff usually does.

I was looking at the i3-12100 vs the 13100 but the price difference is like 30 or 40 bucks for what looks like the exact same silicon just clocked slightly higher and it feels like a total ripoff? Shes got a hard $500 budget for the whole tower and I need to make sure this thing can handle her insane 50+ chrome tab habit plus giant excel sheets without stuttering.

I thought about maybe jumping to an i5-12400 but then I have to cut back on the nvme drive or the ram to stay under budget and that seems like a bad trade for a general use case. Is there some hidden gem I am missing or should I just stick with the older 12th gen and call it a day? I just dont want to build her something that feels sluggish when she is on a zoom call while crunching numbers...

I'm putting together a new beast for my home office in Seattle and I've got about $3500 to burn before the end of the month for tax reasons. I've been building my own workstations for like fifteen years now so I usually just grab the top tier i9 and call it a day but honestly the recent news about stability on the 13th and 14th gen chips has me second guessing everything. My logic was to just go 14900K but I'm worried about the heat and whether my usual air cooling setup is gonna cut it or if I'm forced into AIO territory which I hate for long term reliability.

This machine is gonna be doing a lot of heavy lifting - think massive Excel sheets with thousands of power query steps and some light CAD work on the side. I was looking at:

i9-14900K (classic choice but maybe too hot?)

i7-14700K (seems like the sweet spot for cores)

Maybe even the new Ultra series chips?

But then I started reading about the e-core scheduling issues with some of my older legacy software and now I'm just stuck in a rabbit hole. I need this thing stable because I cant afford downtime during my busy season. Is the i9 overkill for high-end office work even if that work is basically data science light? Or should I just undervolt an i7 and call it a day. I'm trying to get the parts ordered by Friday so I can build over the weekend...
